Installed in smaller wastewater treatment plants and industrial applications, static wedge wire screens usually have a clear opening of 0.2 to 1.2 mm or (0.01 to 0.06 in [metric system conversion]). The designed flowrates for static wedge wire screens range between 400 to 1200 L/m2-min or (10 to 30 gal/ft2-min) of the screening area. This screen is comprised of a small stainless-steel wedge shaped bars that have a flat part facing the direction of the flow. There are several drawbacks to wedge wire screen.
